LABYRINTHIAN - STYGIAN DISGUISE FORM

ALL STYGIAN TRAIT POTIONS/ SUBSPECIES TICKETS/ INHERITANCES ARE USED ON THE STYGIAN DISGUISE FORM
SHADOW FORM: A Stygian disguise form will always show the Labyrinthian's true form as a shadow behind it.

  • This shadow is ALWAYS the Labyrinthian masterlist form drawn, you cannot draw another Labyrinthian form for this and/or redraw it in a different pose.
  • Shadow form cannot have a sihlouette of anything other than black
  • Shadow form can have eyes, but must be same colour as outline
  • If using shadow form with black sihlouette, outline must be a SINGULAR colour
  • If using shadow form at low opacity, must no lower than 20% opacity, no higher than 50% opacity.
  • Shadow form does NOT have to be attached to Stygian / can be free floating
  • Shadow form should NOT overlap the Stygian ML art in any signficant manner
Stygian traits on the Stygian disguise form are approved like a regular Stygian form
Labyrinthian can only have ONE LABYRINTHIAN FORM (see below) but can have multiple Stygian alternate forms as long as it matches the labyrinthian form design AND contains their Labyrinthian form as a shadow behind them.
Stygian disguise rarity is unaffected by Labyrinthian rarity (Labyrinthian rarity is always set to demi-god unless it is a legendary Labyrinthian form)
Stygian disguise form should ALWAYS match Labyrinthian true form design (see below)

LABYRINTHIAN - TRUE FORM

Labyrinthians are best explained as a "amalgamations given a rough shape". This shape deviates greatly from a Stygian's shape, due to their primordial nature. The closest approximation a Stygian can percieve of a Labyrinthian's true form is something 'more primordial' in nature, which takes an almost draconic form (see below). Their true form is the closest form to their manifestation, their disguise form is to blend in with other Stygian.

These archetypes are body shape SUGGESTIONS! You do not have to follow them 1:1 and can take an archetype you like and modify it (for example adding more wings/legs/ less wings/ no legs/ longer body/ etc)
Labyrinthian forms do NOT have traits, its basically just make sure whatever you design matches the Stygian disguise form (in which, the Stygian one HAS traits). So for example, if you made a Stygian with bird wings and a halo, it is RECOMMENDED to add bird wings and a halo somewherein the Labyrinthian design to make sure they match.
HEAD SHAPE: Labyrinthians have longer, more primordial heads/skull shapes (similar to a lizard/dragon). Their heads should NOT resemble any Stygian shape, human head shape, or other animal shape. Heads cannot be detached or floating. Heads cannot be object head. Missing eyes or more than two eyes are okay, but the mouth/jaw must be visible.
BODY SHAPE: Labyrinthian forms should always look "draconic (with a hint of eldritch)" in nature. If it starts looking too humanoid or like another creature/Stygian for example, then revisions may needed to be asked for. OTHERWISE it does not matter if a Labyrinthian has one or multiple dragon heads, if it has fins or draconic claws etc.
LEG SHAPE: Legs can be clawed, finned, webbed, feathered or legless. Do NOT give them human arms/legs and/or insect legs. Animal legs kept to a minimum (ie hooves) as LONG as the overall design still looks draconic in nature. Redesigns may be asked for example, if your Labyrinthian form looks just like a giant horse instead of a draconic/eldritch creature.
WINGS/TAILS/ETC: Wings are optional, all Labyrinthians should have a tail of some type. This can be finned, spined, feathered, elemental, multiple, etc etc. No size limit but it is recommended it fits on the cert.
ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND PROPS: Labyrinthian masterslist art, while it can come with any accessories, please do NOT add additional props other than ones it would be holding (so, holding a sword is okay, impaled with weapons is okay as long as its PG, etc). No other floating background elements such as weapons/giant books/giant chairs/balloons etc etc. Free-floating accessories (small) and things like elemental is fine
ADDITIONAL FAMILIARS: Please do NOT add any additional familiars to the Labyrinthian form.

Labyrinthians come in premade sale designs and the occasional MYO token raffle. Check current events to see if any are being given away!

LABYRINTHIAN - AVATAR FORM
Exactly like Stygian, Labyrinthians can have one human, one animal, and one mythical avatar form. Avatar forms must be unlocked with their respective Stygian avatar tickets on redemption of ML art, they do NOT default come with Labyrinthians.

SYMBIOTIC LABYRINTHIANS - CONVERTING AN EXISTING STYGIAN TO A LABYRINTHIAN
On rare occassions (such as with the use of a Labyrinthian MYO Token), you can convert an EXISTING Stygian instead of creating a NEW Labyrinthian character. This process is called [ SYMBIOTIC CONVERSION ]. The shell, or essential core of a Labyrinthian is passed onto a Stygian host, the Stygian acquires the husk of that Labyrinthian's abilities passed down. While lorewise, you can lean into the Stygian's NEW Labyrinthian form looking like its Labyrinthian shell, the newly turned SYMBIOTIC LABYRINTHIAN should still retain the appearance of its original self in a recognizeable way, similar to an alt.

Symbiotic Labyrinthians are Stygian converted/ corrupted by a fading Labyrinthian core to turn into a Labyrinthian themselves. Think of it similar to a passing down, or merging of selves, with the Labyrinthian being little more than a shell with no true cognizance or ability to bear form.
The converted Labyrinthian (Stygian host + Labyrinthian core -> Symbiotic Labyrinthian) retains all its Stygian features, but requires 2 ML updates/changes: at least one of the Stygian with [ LABYYRINTHIAN SHADOW ] and a NEW [ LABYRINTHIAN FORM ].
STEP 1: ADD NEW LABYRINTHIAN FORM: Symbiotic (converted from Stygian) Labyrinthians must have a Labyrinthian form (see here ). It must resemble the existing Stygian. Create using the guidelines above and submit at the same time as step 1 (see )
STEP 2: REBASE EXISTING STYGIAN FORM WITH A LABYRINTHIAN SHADOW: You must add a Labyrinthian shadow (see here ) to ONE of your EXISTING Stygian's FORMS (AN ALREADY UPLOADED IMAGE ON THE ML). You can redesign this form if you wish with the proper potions/alt-subspecies tickets, otherwise SELECT the form on ML redeem, add the existing traits + Labyrinthian Shadow. A new alt is NOT created for Symbiotic Labyrinthians but instead converts an existing alt for Stygian form. Again, to reiterate, you can redraw this art, modify it a bit, add or remove traits/potions, but it must be from an existing, approved piece of ML art already on the Stygian.

If you really want to design a NEW alt for this Stygian form specifically, you may submit an alt-subspecies ticket of your choice + potions of your choice to make it happen simultaneously. Alt forms and bonus potions are not included in the token/conversion. In that case, attach the items.
DESIGN GUIDELINES: Same design guidelines form Labyrinthian forms otherwise as above.
WARNING: LOSS OF NON-CANON ALTS: ALL ALTS THAT DO NOT RESEMBLE THE EXISTING STYGIAN/LABYRINTH CONVERSION WILL BE RETIRED/ UNPLAYABLE (Ie: Alts that were not rewinded, but one of them was). Labyrinthian form MUST match Stygian form like an alt itself, even though it is a species change technically.
WARNING: LEGENDARY STYGIAN + SYMBIOTIC CONVERSION: Your Legendary Stygian is NOT turned into a Legendary Labyrinthian but instead becomes a Labyrinthian (default demi-god rarity) with a Legendary Stygian disguise. They will retain their Legendary form and ID, but their Stygian legendary form becomes a disguised Stygian legendary form, similar to how non-Legendary Treatlings and Divers can have a disguised Stygian legendary form. The corruption has gone somewhere wrong in its symbiotic creation - the disguise is just that - a Stygian disguise, strong enough to fool the Nightmare Tree. The Labyrinth itself does not recognize this new converted Labyrinthian as "archaic" (legendary) in nature. Make sure you are comfortable with this + the lore update if you wish to go this route!
ID CHANGE: Stygian ID will be changed from MYO/D/S/ETC-### to X-### where applicable. If using on a Legendary, the ID will not change ( no X-id, retains the L-### series ID + cert, but will have the species updated).

You can convert a Stygian to a Symbiotic Labyrinthian come in premade sale designs and the occasional MYO token raffle. You will be using it as a conversion of an EXISTING Stygian (like rebase) instead of a MYO. Check current events to see if any are being given away! THE LABYRINTH (AND LABYRINTHIAN HOMES)
LABYRINTHIANS AND THEIR HOMES: Instead of a Stygian kingdom, Labyrinthians instead nestle themselves in the a segment of, well, the Labyrinth, they call home. There is no rhyme or reason to where they stay, simply that it may partially reside, be, or be between the "floors" as listed below.

Please note: do not CLAIM ACTUAL FLOOR NUMBERS unless stated otherwise in the lore GIVEN to your Labyrinthian (ie a sale one with pre-written lore). Instead, think of your Labyrinthian's "home" as a very small, isolated section of the near-infinite Labyrinth, like a sphere or domain cut off from everything else. They instinctively know how to reach there, like an innate jump or teleportation. With practice, they can even bring other visitors to their amalagamation-home though it may cause unusual side-effects for Stygian such as loss of sense or complete sensory overload.

Labyrinthian "homes" are near identical to Stygian nightmare kingdoms in shape and structure, except perhaps if you imagine the kingdom to be about 2 dimensions too far to the up and left. There is always a feeling of uncanney valley/unsettling despite the best intensions for a Labyrinthian to make their "home" welcome. Instead of thinking of a Labyrinthian's home as a Nightmare, think of it as a Labyrinthian's point of origin. For example, a Labyrinthian inspired by the ocean depths may have a deepsea bed with layers and layers of teeth, a Labyrinthian of cosmic horror may exist somewhere in the void of eternally colour-shifting space. A Labyrinthian is a primordial essence, something that cannot be explained by simple dreams or nightmares. Eldritch or cosmic horror is a good place to start as well for this feel. You can also use the areas below as examples of what your Labyrinthian's "home" may feel like
THE HISTORY OF THE LABYRINTH: The Labyrinth is a primordial expanse existing beneath the Nightmare Tree. It is considered something of a 'forgotten lands', where Nightmares are buried and Dreams are shattered. Far beyond that, it hosts what simply cannot be formed into Dreams and Nightmares, concepts far beyond, and concepts even too little for the Nightmare Tree to consider. A forever shifting, adapting network of never-have-beens given form.

The term Labyrinth is given to explain navigation beneath and below. What was once unstructured, primordial chaos has shifted due to the Nightmare Tree's roots growing deeper and further. As Nightmares touch the primordial expanse, so does the Labyrinth touch the nightmare world. The result is the [ Floors of the Labyrinth ], once forgotten concepts given structure and name thanks to the Nightmare's influence. Countless speckles of rejected figments turn into a floor of the Labyrinth - W?nd?rl?nd. Decay and inevitability turns into The Singularity. And oddly enough, even creatures structured in the Labyrinth itself become semi-tamed as they breach the surface into the Nightmare Tree. Those once contained to purgatory find new meaning and escape their T?ss?r?ct containment. Each time a new "named area" is explored in the Labyrinth, it is given a floor. Below are the current explored floors (anyone with a Stygian ARPG character regardless of Labyrinthian or not are free to explore or use the below in quests) :
LABYRINTH ENTRANCE

Those who experience the phenomenon of Labyrinth interference may see the entrance as a maze of sorts, thus the moniker "Labyrinth". In actuality, it is several realities folded upon each other, near-indiscernible to even those from it. This dimensional shift, or shifts, is one of the reasons why Labyrinthians are observable but not fully observed. One is witnessing their experience of the Labyrinth as they understand it, and not in its full capacity. This manifests itself in the way the entrance continously shifts and moves, the walls of the maze look different and yet oddly similar, and colours often bleed together to form either a singular colour or none at all. Gazing upon, or perceiving the entrance does no true actual harm or damage, it is more a gateway than anything else, like peering at the shallow surface of a well. Beneath the visible surface lie the unknown, above it, the known.
W?ND?RL?ND

On floor 10 - 20 of the Labyrinth, measured by the "depth" or "time passed" while traversing the maze, one may encounter W?ND?RL?ND. It is an amalgamation of happy memories and wonder, as the name suggests. It represents the Labyrinth's desire to welcome, to be known, and reachable, and be percieved. Those within the floors may experience a sense of happiness, or joy, while W?nd?rl?nd presents itself like a nonsensical theme park. Theme park rides come and go, things that have appeared once may never appear again. Visitors to W?nd?lr?nd also report incidents of helpful or playful voices speaking to them, but there has never been a case where those voices have been percieved. W?nd?lr?nd formerly held residents in the shape of Nightmares, trapped for an unknown period of time before they were released.
THE T?SS?R?CT
On floors ??? to 500 of the Labyrinth is the T?SS?R?CT, considered a containment bay or containment field isolated from the rest of the Labyrinth. It is said a long time ago, the Nightmare Tree lost several branches that fell deep into the Labyrinth that was absorbed and formed into the T?ss?r?ct. It is both protecting those within the cage, and preventing them from (formerly) leaving. Now that the T?ss?r?ct has been opened, it is less a cage and more a field where those formerly belonging to it freely come and go, and those who fall into it may find their way back to the surface, treating it like a small respite. The T?SS?R?CT itself may appear as a long corridor with a series of "containment bays", though each one seems to have completely different environments depending on what influence lies inside.
THE SINGULARITY
The newest phenomenon discovered by the Nightmare Realm is the Singularity. This is where concepts such as 'structure' and 'existence' begin to blur. Yes, the Singularity exists on its own, but no, it is not a solitary existence. Similar to percieving a wall, one may only see the surface of the wall, not the layers underneath composed of the wall, or perhaps odder yet, that the wall does not quite exist the way they imagined. The Singularity absorbs memories, takes from the Labyrinth what is given, and thus produces these "walls" that may appear structured, or mimic events that have happened before. In actuality, it has no nightmare or substance, simply reflecting what is given to it, and often manifests as a spacial rend or point in space, where unabsorbed memories may show as planets or stars and absorbed ones fall deeper into abstraction within the singularity construct. Travel around the Singularity is usually safe.
THE ?M?R?LD CITY
A lesser known location, THE ?M?R?LD CITY manifests as a long winding road with no promised destination other than to get to the city itself. The greatest phenomenon is the travel time between individuals attempting to travel on the [ YELLOW BRICK ROAD ] to the city center. It could take minutes, days, hours, weeks, unknown structures of times. Entire beings have been lost on the travels to the city, and once they have reached it, they often find themselves lost or unable to return home. Those within the city may often feel themselves being percieved, and their wishes granted in very specific, unhelpful ways.
