There are Divers who research the Nightmare Realm to expand their knowledge and scientific inquiry. There are also Divers who research the Nightmare Realm for their own purposes, both benevolent and nefarious. Khyber is an example of the latter - his seat on the facility is funded by an unknown governmental agency, and his results naturally goes back to benefit them, supposedly in applications of national defense. But can you truly trust his claims? Most of his colleagues don't even know how he looks like in the waking world.

His elegant manner belies a razor-sharp intellect and a notable reliance on physical force. He leans rather willingly into the vampiric allegories for his artificial form, and is surprisingly skilled at infiltration. Somehow, he even acquired a Treat companion for himself, though the blind obedience with which Kythri (T-2045) follows him brings to mind the question of how much it even knows about what's going on. His supervisor Eberron (L-316) keeps him on a tight leash to prevent his experiments from destabilizing the Diver masquerade and/or causing damage to the Nightmare Realm. For now.
