A former court Jester devoted to his King.
His eternal love for his King was discovered and he was shamed and ridiculed for being truly foolish in his emotions.
Instead of bringing laughter with his wit and skills, he became the subject of laughter instead, mocked and taunted, brought out as an example of true foolishness to be jeered at.
  Giacomo, instead of staying the subject of laughter, became the laughter. 
His heart broken, devoid of remorse or attachment to any single member of the court, he took up arms.
  He couldn't bring himself to kill his beloved king, though his mockery wounded him the most and his hatred for the way he laughed at him spurred him to take the Halbard from the royal guard and bring it down upon his king so hard as to break its handle across his neck.
He then enacted his vengengce upon the rest of the court, eliminating those who hurt him one by one, mocking their flaws and idiotic fantasies and dreams, letting them know that in their last moments, he was laughing at how ridiculous and pointless their hopes and feelings were in the face of slaughter. 

Now Giacomo has no court and no King, a broken heart yearning to be repaired by a King he can serve. 
He keeps his broken Halbard close, his 'Needle' for piercing the cold hearts of those who ever sneered at him.
And joined by a chain is the spiked Mace the King once wielded, its 'Pins' there to skewer and rend flesh as the many pointed comments he'd once recieved did unto him.
