HE HAS A JOB
Uranometria's only Assistant Archivist and intern was once a prominent royal astrologer, disgraced when he had failed to divine the collapse of the Treatopolis Sun. Years of wandering as a mindless little creature has led him to Astraeus' Nightmare Realm, and landed him his current job.
His unwitting power over good fortune has allowed him to survive unscathed, while also giving him the uncanny ability to organize books completely by chance, simply by bouncing around randomly and knocking them over to where they needed to be placed.
He has regained his treatling form and memories after consuming, like a feral chihuahua, a contract that fell from one of the Polaris Archive's tomes. Alas, Uranometria was a world of Everything and Nothing at the same time- a Schrodinger's Universe. The contract he had consumed was merely the possibility of a contract rather than a real one; a contract that would exist if Uranometria had somehow formed ties with Treatopolis in one of the many branching timelines recorded in its cryptic tomes.
As such, unless that possibility came to pass, or he managed to obtain an actual contract (which he is loath to do), Bonbon will only retain his treatling form within a certain range of the Polaris Archives, transforming back into a blob of cosmic fur when he strays too far.
Not that this was a bad life. He could get used to this, he supposes.
