SUBMISSION RULES
[ Don't have a Stygian? ] Do our NEWBIE STARTER MYO QUESTLINE here. Yes, this is a GUARANTEED MYO for all newbies who complete this questline (as a reward for your efforts!)

[ USING A STYGIAN: ] Your Stygian can do all quests in their Stygian form. For most of these quests, you can use their { Avatar Forms}. However, Adventure, Gardening, Fishing and Book quests require Stygian to be in their Stygian or human avatar form! No animal or mythical avatars.

[ USING A TREATLING: ] Your Treatling can do all Stygian quests in their Stygian Disguise form. Some quests may say Treatling form is okay, which means they can use their Treatling form as well. A few quests say Treat form okay, which means their Treat form would be okay for that quest.
  • If in Treat form, they can earns points for their Treatling self as long as that quest says Treat form okay! They cannot earn 'paired with a Treat' bonus points for being with another Treat, however. They can activate this bonus point for a Stygian they are with, though! (But they cannot earn it for being in the image themself.)

[ USING A TREAT ] Treats themselves (if they are not evolved Treatlings) cannot gain skill points. If a Treat is allowed in a quest (ie the "Treat" marker is checked), it means you can draw them in the quest alone, but you will get no skill points from it (other rewards apply). A Treat can be drawn with a Treatling or Stygian anytime to give that Treatling/Stygian bonus skill points (see calculator for bonuses).

[ SUBMITTING A QUEST: ] All quests go into the ART GALLERY folder HERE. However, if you do not want to submit your quest to the folder, you can link the quest with a PERMANENT sta.sh link (DIRECT STASH TEXT FILE, NO .PDF OR.DOCX TYPE UPLOADS PLEASE), a scrap deviation, a link to a comment in a journal/deviation or a google doc LINK WITH PERMISSION. As we explore development options for a writing on site, we are not accepting any NEW approvals of outside sources for writing. Please note that ANY submission that is not present in the Stygian-Shade galleries are NOT eligible for monthly Stygian or user of the month selections.

[ SUBMITTING A QUEST PART 2: ] Each image/deviation/writing piece/art piece should only count for one quest, ever. Choose the quest that best fits the rules for all involved.
  • Quests can never count for more than ONE quest at a time. If multiple Stygian are present, the quest must be the same quest type for all Stygian (All R001 for example, never R001 for Stygian A and R005 for Stygian B).
  • Quests must also be the same quest type for all collaborators and commissioned pieces. A quest can never be R001 for one player, but R005 for another, they must be the same for all users involved.

[ SKILL POINTS: ] Skill points are used to teach your Stygian job skill classes! These Stygian job skills can be used to unlock special shiny prizes specifically catered to that Stygian, as a way of helping them develop and grow. For more information on job classes, please check out the info HERE.

[ MAX STYGIAN ELIGIBLE FOR SKILL POINTS ]The maximum amount of Stygian in a quest allowed for skill points is 5 Stygian. You can include more if you wish, but they would be not eligible for the bonus skp!

[ QUESTING AND ART SIMPLIFICATION ] If your Stygian has very complicated edits/ markings, you can simplify the markings and edits as much as you'd like! It can even just be one general colour + easy markings if you wish, as long as it is recognize-able as that Stygian (think of it as flexibility in the Nightmare to change and adapt forms). The challenge of how much you want to draw is up to you!

[ QUESTS, COLLABS AND COMMISSIONS: ] You may indeed commission people for quests. The only exception to this is the FIGMENT MYO questline and ANY of the one time quests. If you draw someone else's Stygian in a fanart, you alone get the quest completion, but they get the skill points for that Stygian (see below). ONLY THE COMMISSIONER SHOULD SUBMIT THE QUEST, to prevent confusion, and granting items that should not be giveable to the commissioned artist.

  • For commissions that are Repeatable, Daily, or Monthly quests: both buyer and artist receive quest completion for R, D, and M quests, but only buyer receives shadow tokens. Applicable Stygian receive the skill points. For these quests the BUYER should submit the quest and add the artist's name in the second slot. Artists should not submit quests for their commissioners.
  • For commissions that are Book, Fishing, Gardening, or Adventure quests only the buyer recieves quest completion, tokens, and other rewards. The buyer should should submit the quest and the artist's name should NOT be included.
  • For collabs, both of you will get the quest completion and tokens, and the applicable Stygian the skill points. You can collab with a max of 2 people, the third person needs to submit in their form seperatly as the questing form only allows one additional person to be listed as a collaborator. For collabs, please make sure all people have done considerable work on the piece to be considered a part of it.

[ BATCH SUBMISSIONS: ] We no longer allow batch sumbissions! There should be one quest per deviation/submission, and each deviation/submission should only be turned in once (per person involved). If all your images/writings are clustered together, but you want to get seperate skill points for all your work as unique quests and not just alltogether as one quest (if alltogether, less skill points, only one quest reward), please seperate your images into different .png images/create seperate writing submissions, and then submit them individually. Do not cluster images together into one page/canvas/submission and submit that one group mutliple times! We count each image/deviation/writing piece as a single quest, so otherwise a mod may be confused about skill point redeems and give you less skill points than its worth if images are not seperated!

[ I WANT PEOPLE TO DRAW MY CHARACTERS: ] Go to your site profile and click on your Stygian. Go to "edit profile" and then tick the "eligible for gift art" box. This will show your Stygian in the gift art okay window!

[ CHARACTER SIZE: ] Characters should stay within their general canon size in Quests! With the addition of the Size-Shifter trait we are updating the rules on allowable Stygian sizes in quests! Please Refer to this Size Chart for relative sizes of Stygian! Your Stygian should be depicted as roughly the size shown here!
  • The Limits: Stygian cannot be much bigger than the size shown on the chart for their species. Miniature Stygian cannot be smaller than the Miniatures shown on the chart (about 2-3ft tall, no matter the species).
  • With Size-Shifter: Stygian can only be bigger or larger than their normal size if they have the Size-Shifter Trait! With this trait they can be anything between 1-100ft. They can never be smaller or larger than this! Stygian also cannot reach these sizes without the Size-Shifter trait!
  • Treatlings/Treats: Treatlings are human sized, Treats are chinchilla sized.

[ USING JOB CLASS QUESTING SKILLS: ] Per Quest, you may only apply ONE single Questing Skill from one single Stygian/Treatling, no matter how many Stygian/Treatling have Job Class Questing Skills.  Any Stygian you PERSONALLY OWN may also gain +5 sp from this skill, up to 5 Stygian. This bonus will not extend to Stygian you do not own, unless the Job Skill specifically states otherwise. The max a single Stygian can gain from this is +5 per quest (Questing Skills are applied at the end, to the quest as a whole, not applied per Stygian appearance).

  • Again - Only ONE Questing Skill maybe be active PER QUEST. If there are 3 Stygian in a Quest, only ONE of those Stygian may activate their Questing Skill. A Stygian cannot earn more than +5 skill points PER QUEST from Questing Skills.
  • If using a Treatling (Treatling or Stygian form only) jobs skills can also be activated! (Treat forms cannot activate nor earn a bonus from Job Class skills.)

[ QUEST LIMIT: ] Some quests have limits, such as daily, monthly, or weekly! Make sure to read the quest type rules if you are unsure.

[ SKILL POINT LIMIT ] THE MAX AMOUNT OF SKILL POINTS YOU CAN EARN IS 100 IN ANY QUEST. If you spent more or extra time on a deviation, please let us know or note @Zoomutt, and we'll help you score it more fairly.

SKILL POINTS AND JOB SKILLS
Skill points are tied to the Stygian involved in the quest, be it commission, gift, or art trade.

That means if you draw someone else's Stygian, that specific Stygian gets the skill points. It's as if you are playing an RPG game and sent 3 party members out to battle. Only those party members would gain skill points to unlock new skills (while you, as the player, would complete the quest). Skill points are specifically used to unlock new skills for that Stygian. This includes upgrades to their traits, species, and even skills to produce an MYO of the same subspecies as your Stygian!

Click on your Stygian then click "BUY SKILLS" To see what skills you can buy! There are many options!

THERE MUST BE A STYGIAN IN THE IMAGE IN ORDER FOR YOU TO EARN POINTS/CLAIM REWARDS. Only Stygian actually shown in the image can earn skill points for that image.

ART GUIDELINES
BASE ART REQUIREMENTS:
Art needs to feature at least a full headshot of the Stygian/ Treat/ Ally OR a full background illustration. Close ups on half of a face, hands, paws, etc. will not count for Quest Exp. or SP. As well - Solid color backgrounds, simple shapes, or patterns will not count for background SP. Simply drawing a line across a panel and calling a horizon with one color above and one below would also not count for background SP. Adding plants in the distance + clouds, however, would count!

The below picture is the BASE ART REQUIREMENTS. Of course, if you do extra, such as lineart + shading + bg, etc you will get extra points for your efforts, as rewarded by the quest bonuses listed under each quest type. While point "farming" is not discouraged, we do recommend for you to push yourself in terms of effort so that you make artwork that you are proud of, in a good presentable manner! We have the right, if it seems like it is skirting guidelines, to request you add a little more to your submission! If you have any questions regarding your deviation etc or what can be done, feel free to note the group!

The minimum requirement for quest submissions can be:

A. Clean lineart + colour (no shading). Clean lineart is lineart that has a "finished" polish to it, as if someone could colour underneath it like a colouring book and call it a finished product.

B. Value shading + no lineart (shading only). A value is shading that has more than 3 shades of "grey".

C. Cellshading and lineart.

D. Value shading and colour (no lineart)

E. Cellshading and colour (this version requires no lines, but the product must look "finished" and not overly sketchy).

F. Pixels need to be larger than 25x25 pixels! (Same rules as above in terms of what is needed)

BASE CHARACTER, BACKGROUND, ETC REQUIREMENTS:
The minimum requirement for Stygian on the canvas + bgs is:

1. No bonus: Draw your Stygian as you please with at least a 25% of it showing.

2. Full body bonus

3. No background bonus

4. Simple background bonus. This is for more vague backgrounds that have at least a defining idea of "where" a Stygian is. Simpler shapes, and more abstract backgrounds would go here.

5. + Full background bonus (+3skp). A background that more clearly defines where a Stygian is when you look at it. The feeling should be similar to taking a photo of someone and knowing a good idea of where that person is located.

6. + Maximum Effort background bonus (+3skp). This just just for a personal achievement! Max and full bgs still count for the same skp, but if you put a lot of work into it, that's super kudos to you.

Additional art type bonuses:

[ COLORED AND SHADED BONUS: ] In order to count for the Colored and Shaded bonus, a quest must have BOTH color and value shading. 'Value Shading' here generally means 3 layers (or levels) of shading, for both cell and soft shading styles. This can be flats and two shadows, flats and two highlights, or one of each. We are not overly strict, they just need to be visible and add depth and value to the form, and not just a gradient.

[ COMIC SCORING: ] Each panel can stack the BASE QUEST VALUE in terms of skill points, if it fulfills the base requirements above (ie mostly full body). For instance, if you create a comic 3 panels long for a quest, you get x3 potentially the quest skill point bonus for each applicable panel, that's 3x3 base skill points (then add on whatever extras applicable per panel such as bgs etc). Please note that reused elements (backgrounds, lineart, and figures with minor changes) cannot be reused for points in multiple panels. To earn points a panel must have unique artwork. Skill points and quest rewards do not overlap, meaning this counts as one quest, not 3 quests, and you only get one shadow token and one quest completion. Basically, you are claiming this as one quest reward, where only skill points can be multiplied from the base reward value. Comics are capped at 100 skill points each.

[ GIF ANIMATION SCORING: ] Please follow the base scoring under each quest, however you receive a bonus +1 skillpoint every 4 frames of animation. You can only gain a maximum of +3 skillpoints this way. After 30 frames, animations will be capped! Max skill points is 100 this way. This is for gif animations only, for video animations (longer than 30 frames), please see the below interactive multimedia.

[ CRAFT SCORING: ] It is a bonus +2 skill points for making any crafting material, plus an additional +1 skill point per 30 minutes you put on your project. This is accumulated on top of the base quest score. Max skill points is 100 this way.

[INTERACTIVE SCORING: ] An interactive media is something like a video, music or a small game that does not fulfill any of the other above. It is a bonus +2 skill points for making any time made making your interactive piece (such as music etc) plus an additional +1 skill point per 30 minutes you put on your project. This is accumulated on top of the base quest score. Max skill points is 100 this way.

WRITING GUIDELINES
BASE WRITING REQUIREMENTS:

You can write any of the applicable quests below. You must fulfill the requirements of the quest for example where it says "draw a nightmare", you would write about a nightmare. The writing minimum requirement is generally 250 words, plus +1 skillpoint per additional 50 words written (for some more specialized quests such as monthlies, they may be 300 words). This follows the same skill point cap as everything else. When writing, make sure it is canonical to the Stygian lore, ie: it happens in the nightmare world, in a setting or prompt below your Stygian/Treatling/Treat can access. If you'd like more information on general lore, feel free to read the LORE INFO:

[ WRITING OTHER STYGIAN LIMITS: ] More than one Stygian is allowed to appear in your writing! However, to earn sp, the secondary Stygians must play an active role for a writing minimum of 250 words per scene. Apply the bonus just like you would drawing an additional Stygian in an artwork. For example, if you write about them for 250 words in that quest, they can get the quest skillpoints bonus. However, if you write 1000 words for Stygian A, 1500 for Stygian B and 250 words for Stygian C, Stygian C would only get the 250 words base quest points, while A would get the bonus for 1000 words, and B would get the bonus for 1500.

[ WRITING SUBMISSIONS: ] PLEASE ONLY SUBMIT TO STA.SH if it is a PLAIN TEXT FILE ON THE STA.SH not an embedded pdf or docx file. TLDR PLEASE EITHER STASH DIRECT FILE (non downloads) only OR: google doc (permission open) file!

[ WRITING IN RP FORMAT ] You may also write in RP format for any quest. In this case, all those involved in the rp will get the skill points bonus for their own individual Stygian only. For example if I rp with Stygian A and my friend with Stygian B, my friend and I get the quest completion + and 1 of can claim a Skill bonus. An RP (writing roleplay) is an interaction of two or more characters where each owner writes for that character. For example, person A sets up a scenario, and person B responds to it with their character, and then person A responds to it again with their characters, etc etc. The same word limits apply PER Stygian. You are free to RP either on discord (use something like google docs for logs!, on any external forum site, or using DA journals. Remember to keep things PG-13 or lower.) You cannot rp two different quests in the same RP, pick ONE quest for it, though you may of course do multiple rps of different quests. Once you've hit the word limit you're going for for each, the quest is considered completed!
