A strange cube has appeared in the Nightmare Realm, and it has brought quite the multi-faceted layer of consequences. Come participate in our large scale Stygians 2023 event and unearth the mysteries of the cube! Like the Mome King, the "Box" is only awake at various times of the day (2 times per day), at specific hours. If you manage to catch it successfully, if you are lucky you may walk away with some... unusual items. Some of these items, including badges, are unique to the box. Apparently fiddling with the box too much can lead to disastrous consequences for the Nightmare Realm, but no risk was ever done without a reward.

TYPEATHON MINIGAME IS NOW LIVE!

A new minigame is live - typeathon!


⭐ A prompt will pop up on the computer graphic asking for you to type the word. Simply type the word into the box that says [ type word here ]! The game is CASe AND SPACING SenSitiVE

⭐ If typed correctly, another word will pop up!

⭐ You have 3 seconds to type each word prompt (randomized). It is GAME OVER if you cannot type the given word or phrase in the time limit! Collect as many points as you can by succeeding to type words in a row without the timer running out and submit your scores!

⭐ Note: game works best on full screen width on desktop, for mobile: some keyboard shortcut applications such as swiftkey on mobile may not work properly. Tested on Chrome and Safari (on mobile and desktop). Does not work with additional script modifying extensions (make sure they are disabled if you wish to try)

A LIMITED TIME TYPEATHON RELEASE TOURNAMENT IS ALSO LIVE UNTIL JULY 20th

For a limited time , you will be able to obtain limited prizes such as silver, gold, and even a legendary seed packet from playing! The prizes are a CUMULATIVE PRIZE POOL from the limited time "tournament", so it means if you score 25, then 25 again, you can get the 50 prize! Keep on playing until you get all the prizes!

PRIDE WEEK CAPTURABLE DAYDREAM ADVENTURES

The [ Island of Lost "Holidays" ] zone has shown up again, and brings it this time, exclusive daydreams! For the limited, only special Pride Week daydreams will show up, exclusive to this zone! To capture a daydream, you must whittle them to low health. They also must say CAPTURABLE to capture them. Use a capture capsule and try your luck to take that Daydream (egg stage OR type) home!

BADGES AND SHOWCASES ARE LIVE (NEW!)

You can now add BADGES TO YOUR STYGIAN! They show up in something on your Stygian's profile (their main page when you click on a Stygian) called a SHOWCASE



❓ [ What are badges ]: Badges are a new system - like mini achievements for Stygian! Any badges you (user) obtain, you can assign to your existing Stygian. Unlike achievements you can own multiple of a single badge, to assign them to different Stygian. Badges will show up under the "badge" tab in their showcase to show off all their shiny accomplishments!

• You can also delete badges off a Stygian if that badge is no longer needed
• Badges are bound when you use them on that Stygian
• You can view what they look like on this Stygian here!

❓ [ What is a showcase ]: It's literally a showcase to feature your Stygian's favourite items and daydreams, like "favouriting" their existing ones they own! You can also display badges they've obtained there!

• Select a Stygian below (hit assign badges even if you don't have a badge) -> select [ ADD PETS TO SHOWCASE ] and [ ADD COLLECTABLES TO SHOWCASE ]
• You can also organize your showcase by specific order!
• Hit [ back to Stygian ] or click on your Stygian's profile if you want to view what it looks like! Hooray!

HAUNTED GARDENING IS HERE!

A new gardening plot has been found, with special plants, seed packets, and combinations that can only be used on that plot! Like Ocean Gardening, this new gardening plot comes with its own personal prize shop, tasks, and alchemy recipes

• Haunted is a completely new series of gardening plots with new "plants" to farm, discover, and hybridize!
• It has a completely seperate levelling system from the other two gardening plots (regular/classic, ocean)
• You'll be simultaneously able to manage all 3 plots, or deal with whatever you wish! All 3 gardening plots exist seperate of each other with plants that can ONLY be planted in their respective zones!
• Haunted plants go in the haunted garden. In your items inventory, it will say this is a "haunted" garden item
• Special haunted garden hybrids exist from combining specific haunted plants! Many of these hybrids are valuable as alchemy ingredients!
• New plants means new prizes! Find them in alchemy, shops, and more (see below for more info!)
• Haunted Gardening requires Surprise Hallow/Creepy/ Decayed Seed Packets (see below for links)! You won't be able to plant anything yet without those packets!
  • Check out the free starter kit below BEFORE you start ocean gardening to get some starter packets!

These recipes have no time expiration, so you can try for them any time - all the new ones are EXCLUSIVE to gardening/ haunted gardening. There are new daydreams AS WELL as items and even a CYO LINDWORM DAYDREAM

SPOOKY VOUCHER SHOP

A new shop has opened up asking for SPOOKY VOUCHERS!

• Spooky Vouchers can be found by exchanging your harvested haunted gardening plants for tokens (under "Exchange -> Get Tokens)
• SPECIAL DAYDREAMS: Special Daydreams from our "design a spooky daydream" event are also in this shop! They are randomized/grown from the [ SPOOPY BOX SURPRISE ] item, These are all the lovely daydreams various users have submitted to the event realized on site (credits in their daydream dex entries)!
• You'll also see the return of two event fan-favourites: the STYX and STYXLING alt-subspecies tickets, in the spooky voucher shoppe only!
• Some Spooky Vouchers also come from Haunted gardening Tasks
• You can get slightly more vouchers by merging certain Haunted gardening plants together (under "Exchange" -> Merge Plants) (some plants can only turn into tokens when they merge!)

• To view your Stygian's collectables, [ SELECT A STYGIAN YOU OWN (their profile) -> TREASURES -> ITEM COLLECTABLES
• You will see a new category under [ MANAGE COLLECTIONS ] called cursed!
• Cursed collectables upon reaching certain quotas (amounts collected) can give special prizes AND achievements!

GOLD GACHA UPDATE

And lastly, the gold gacha has been updated, and for a limited time will also release for grabs the ALT-SUBSPECIES WYVERN and some other limited time stock! You will need gold currency (obtained from gardening tasks and other site minigames) to try your luck!

GARDENING ADDITIONAL PATCH NOTES

• Added "Haunted" to the gardening dex and the ability to sort by gardening plot categories

HAPPY EGG WEEK 2023

It looks like they sleep paralysis demons have lovingly painted eggs for this week! However, due to the 700% rise in nightmare egg prices, we will no longer be distributing (real) nightmare eggs. Instead, enjoy these egg-week related events!

THE MOME KING

To kick it off, a giant, gluttonous, oversized mome has appeared, blocking everyone's path! We've put up warning label signs to not disturb the Mome King, but if you want to risk your luck grabbing something from the Mome King's treasure pile, you may be rewarded with all sorts of egg week goodies, including new Egg Week daydreams and some old returning goodies (that may not have much use but have sentimental value. Sometimes the mome king is extra vigilant and you get nothing...

• How does this work?: The mome king vigilantly guards its treasure pile, but sometimes gets tired, in fact, it gets tired exactly 3 times a day for exactly one hour! So for example, if it falls asleep at 12:00 am PST, it would stay asleep till 1:00 am PST. Site timezones are in PST (you can check the current site time here https://stygians.thesporkedken.com/, or on the mome king page)
• You can try EXACTLY ONCE PER NAP session the mome king has, so theoretically you could catch all three times a day it sleeps, though most likely 2/3 time zones. I've staggered the times it sleeps to accomodate for all timezones, that's why there's 3 "nap" sessions a day to try for prizes! Ie if it sleeps at lets say 12am, 8 am and 3pm, then you could get one prize per time window. You would not be able to get double the prizes (ie 2 prizes at the 12 am - 1am slot).

MOME KING WILL HAVE INCREASED LUCK AND EXCLUSIVE EGG WEEK PRIZES FROM NOW TILL APRIL 20th @ 11:59 PM PST Then, it will rotate back to "normal" prizes and normal luck! You can find all sorts of strange items and daydreams from its stash!

A SCATTERING OF HIDDEN EGGS!

Mystery eggs have been also been scattered all over the site! There are TEN TOTAL TO FIND! Upon finding one, they will turn into fantastic prizes!

• Where could they be?
• On literally any page on Stygians site (that is not a Stygian ML or Treat ML entry)
• They will not be on pages that require "levelling up" in content to see: like Adventure maps, Dreamlands later on zones, etc
• You'll receive a raffle ticket to a SPECIAL TREAT RAFFLE (see below) , x25 silver, AND a daydream/item for each egg you find!

While we cannot reveal any links of the mystery eggs (please also do not reveal these publically on discord or on site), we do however have a log of all eggs you found, so you can keep a track of how many out of the 10 you are missing and where you found them/ what you got from them!

AND LASTLY.. THE EGG HUNT TREAT RAFFLE!

A bunch of lovely artists have made some Treats to find new homes (made by Chobichocobo, Picopepin, and nothingyet). All egg hunt tickets you obtain will go into this raffle! You can check out the full list of prizes here! (More Treats may be added later)!

DESIGN A SPOOKY DAYDREAM EVENT

Do you have daydream ideas? Because we'd love to see them, and even with your permission, have these concepts donated for site use for ALL users to enjoy! This design event is [ spooky daydreams ] as these daydreams will be used in the upcoming new gardening zone update. 

DESIGN EVENT RULES:

• - Daydream MUST HAVE A SPOOKY INSPIRATION/THEME. This is because it will be released in the upcoming gardening expansion (haunted gardening). Examples could include: ghost themes, demons, pumpkins, were-creatures, mimics, gargoyles, literally anything to do with Halloween, even unusual creatures are fine. You dont need to base it off an existing creature (ie a dragon for example) and can make up one that has a slightly spoopy flair to it (ie a ghost wisp for example on its head).
  
  
• Daydream must be A FINISHED PRODUCT (coloured, shaded, PREFERRABLY lined) WITH A TRANSPARENT BG (SAVE IT IN .PNG OR .GIF FORMAT ) SAMPLES OF DAYDREAMS
  
  
• Daydream size must be MINIMUM 400 x 400 pixels. This is because we also use daydreams in adventuring and thats the minimum size for adventuring
  
  
• ONE ENTRY PER USER PLEASE! You can "compile" as .pngs a bunch of ideas into one image to submit if you wish, but only one design will be chosen! Please only SUBMIT your entry once as there are prizes attached to your submission! 
  
  
• Daydream designs cannot be based off existing daydreams (ie: no "mecha floresce" or anything, but you could design a mecha fish idea)
• Daydream designs cannot be based off existing IPS (ie after a Nintendo property for example)
  
  
• Daydream designs cannot be collaborated or commissioned, they must be designed by you! If youre iffy on your art there is no worries at all, everyone starts somewhere!
  
  
• By submitting you are okay that we use this daydream design for the site and for users to replicate this design in events such as "Daydream Rampage" etc etc (tldr you're okay donating this design to Stygians.)
  
  
• Your Daydream design is for site use only: they will never be profited off for as adoptable/individual design to be sold.
  
  
• You will in addition, if your design is chosen, get to colour a UNIQUE COLOURATION of that daydream design for you to keep 25 copies off (to keep, give to friends, etc).

HOW TO ENTER:

• STEP 1: Design your spooky daydream following the RULES above. (Fully rendered, at least 400x400px, transparent bg, spooky inspirations theme, must not be based off an existing daydream).
