♰ The Grounds ♰
A dark vision of an abandoned summer camp, blanketed in dense fog and haunted by staring, hollow-eyed, ghostly figures. The pale fog that smothers The Grounds is so dense that seeing even two or three meters ahead is difficult, and seeing further than ten meters is impossible, aside from the vague shadows and silhouettes of trees and structures.

The only sounds are the faint rustling of leaves and wind howling quietly, punctuated by the occasional piercing unearthly cry. The hideous shrieks appear to come from the ghostly figures, which are always turned toward the observer, though they always remain just far enough away that the movements of their dark gaping mouths cannot be discerned through the fog.

Unique among his cohorts, The Grounds’ Kick differs between Lucifer himself and other visitors to his nightmare. If a visitor remains in the nightmare for too long, their own shadow gradually grows larger; almost imperceptibly at first, no matter what type of light is shone on them from any angle. When the shadow has reached roughly three times its original size, the Dreamer is suddenly jerked towards it by an unseen force, and vanishes into their own shadow.

Lucifer himself is unaffected by this kick, and indeed ignored by all other Kicks in his squad, save for [redacted]’s. His personal Kick, however, appears any place within the nightmare; even in the Kingdoms of ordinary Stygian. At all times, he is hunted by a faceless figure cloaked in white, which can never be impeded for more than a few minutes once it has found him, but may be avoided indefinitely if he can remain out of its line of sight. It ignores all other beings in the nightmare, and can push through solid walls, ceilings, floors, or any other barricade put in its way.

If the two should ever meet, its many paper-white arms reach from within its cloak and consume him, and both instantly vanish from the nightmare. Official documents in the lab refer to it as Insomnia.
