An influential noble of Treatropolis, rumoured to have the Queen's ear (probably not, but who knows?). He is a brilliant and ruthless tactician who made a name for himself during the Hundred Years' War. In the current time of uneasy peace, he makes a living as a cunning merchant, trading in ordinary goods and dangerous weapons alike. He is said to be very, very rich.

He has an eternal rivalry with Nier, his Stygian counterpart. Born from the dream to Nier's nightmare, they harbour a fundamental incompatibility with each other, coming to blows during the Stygian-Treatling war. However, they were evenly matched and failed to permanently harm the other, parting with a bitter mutual grudge. As a result, Virgil severely discriminates against Stygians, seeing them as untrustworthy and fundamentally evil.

He used to be lovers with Azilash, but the other Treatling could not tolerate his brutal attitude during the War and broke up with him. In retaliation, he stole Azi's physical heart and sealed them away in the In-Between. He was very shocked to find out that his ex-boyfriend had escaped the crystal prison and found a home in the Nightmare Realm. He now schemes to bring Azi back to his side, especially away from the clutches of his fated nemesis.
