Cricket (also known as Rick) comes into the world convinced that he is an ordinary human. Though he isn't sure what happened that caused him to be in this strange place.

He slowly realizes with horror that he is not a human at all, but rather a physical manifestation of somebody else’s bad memory. He eventually learns that there are others like him and that being a stygian isn't bad.

Cricket's nightmare kingdom is a huge tree in the middle of a sea of fog. There is no visible landscape outside of the tree and if you try to leave it you will just get thrown back to it.

The tree has many ladders and swings and nooks and crannies to hide in. There is also a treehouse at the top, and inside is a variety of entertainment such as games and movies. There's also an old clunky PC.

Cricket's kingdom seems mostly modern but there is nothing in it that would have come out later than 2011.

The kingdom is a mostly nice and cozy place, if you ignore the bleak featureless sea of fog around the tree, and don't read any of the diaries or letters or emails within the treehouse.
