Despite being incredibly well-read, Mallory is still naive and struggles to apply his knowledge to real-world situations. He is confident, but only when it comes to subjects he is familiar with; in unfamiliar territory, he quickly gives up control and adopts a more supportive role. Others would describe him as dependable, in that he is always earnest and willing to help, as well as responsible, dedicating himself to tasks that need to be done in spite of his inexperience. Some would call him idealistic in his beliefs, but is it really so wrong for a man to dream of a better life for himself and others?
