Calla (also known as Amaranth in some forms) is a Stygian of few words (or she tries to be), desiring to be the strong, silent protector for those who are weak and those she cares about-- not that she has had many of either in her rather empty life. After wandering one day into the Kingdom of a certain princess, she has found herself under the other's employ as a bodyguard, gaining the title of the sole Princess' Guard. After living the vagrant life for a long while (though she has her own domain of course, barren as it may be), it's a much welcome change.

She proves herself worthy in an excursion that had started to go awry, and is soon after gifted a weapon by her ward, with which she is expected to uphold her duty. However, the princess is no weakling, and Calla is beginning to wonder if she was ever really needed in the first place. On more than one occasion, she has found their supposed roles almost switched. It starts to take a toll on her sense of self-worth.

Although she attempts to carry herself like a stoic, seasoned fighter, in truth she had little in the way of actual combat experience until she met Antheia. Still, that doesn't mean she doesn't know her way around a real battle. Despite her occasional moments of weakness, she has attracted the attention of someone...
