It has been a long journey to the reopening of W?ND?RL?ND. The inhabitants eagerly awaited your visit, weeks passed as you made your way through the grounds.
Now Finally.
The castle no longer looms in the distance.
You sit before a sprawling white castle cut from the finest marble. The footfalls of visitors echo loudly through the halls. You feel comfortable here, like a long awaited guest. The feelings of hope, joy, exuberance, and unity overwhelm your senses as you push the doors into the throne room...
....
..............
Forgotten to the world, the queen languished in her castle, doted on by servants and fans alike. Yet she remembers a time before this. When she was no more than a tiny root of the grand Nightmare Tree. Mirana was born during a time of kings, queens, war, and great poverty. The tiny white Snowy fed off decadent nightmares of peasants wishing to be as rich as kings. The peasants drowned in their wine and were crushed by their gold, yet they continued the nightmare as it was far worse than the lives they partook in. Mira grew fat and strong off their greed, lavishing forever under the roots of the tree.
Finally
War loomed over the unseen realms.
Stygian and Treatling alike fought and fell to the void.
When Mirana's kind warred against the encroaching Treatropolis. The young Mirana emerged from the roots and ascended up the trunk of the tree. She joined in the war as it was her duty, and with each treatling slayed she grew in power. The stygian destroyed countless treatlings, and grew more and more in power. When the shards of the sun lay at her hooves, the tree spoke out to her. In a language spoken by none, but understood by all. The branches wrapped around her, and all went white. She awoke again, in a castle carved from the finest marble, surrounded by doting servants who called...
Hail our Queen! She's awoken!
The White Queen of W?ND?RL?ND!
The tree felt her strength, and rewarded the veteran with a castle fit for a queen. Here she stayed, resting from her years of conquest, lavished in royalty and riches.
"I suppose... You may take as much as you wish from my halls! Drink all the wine, take all the gold, wrap yourselves in the finest of my silks! I do warn you, you may find a day when you choke on your wine, your piles of gold crushes down upon you, and the silks wrap around your throat."
-Queen Mirana
The Queen lavishes in her castle, unaware of the world outside. She wallows in the spoils of her conquest and enjoys a lengthy vacation from the nightmare realms. Many see the queen as a passive entity of purity and love, but few know her past. Few know she herself has her own ambitions or violent history that trail behind her. The Queen lets her visitors take all they wish, letting them gorge themselves on her wealth. Yet her vast wealth only seems to multiply.
W?ND?RL?ND has reopened and the Queen begins to stir. The reemergence of Treatropolis disturbs her greatly. The war she fought in looms in her mind as she glares at the tower through the roots of the tree. A treatling, unfit for the duties the queen tried to saddle her with, has joined Mirana's ranks. The Queen blessed a disguise onto the treatling, who takes the form of the Child of Celebration. A guise that lets her travel through the nightmare realms without issue. She harbors no ill will towards the kind treatlings who join her, only the ones who oppose her own kind and seek their destruction.
The Throne Room
The favorite area of Queen Mirana. The grand room reaches up to the very top of the castle, where a shimmering white light filters through the open roof. Pillars support the hefty stone roof of the structure, in the middle of the room a long blue banner wafts down from the skylight. Below the banner sits an impressive throne with a plush pillow sitting upon it. All around are servants furiously cleaning, awaiting for their Queen to return.
I guess the Queen isn't in today?
Grand Masquerade
A large room bustling with activity. Merriment fills the room as elegantly dressed stygian in masks waltz in pairs. Confetti and flower petals fall from the ceiling. Masked face after masked face passes you by, and you begin to feel a tiny bit naked around these elegant revelers. You stumble through the dance hall and into the next room.
The Gallery
A butler meets you at the door. They bow elegantly and ask you a question "Who do you wish to visit today?"
A strange question! You look at the butler in confusion, they chuckle lightly and reply "Look around! Do you see the elegant paintings hanging from the walls?"
You nod.
"Look closer, do you see how they move ever so slightly? The grass bounces in the wind and the clouds roll across the skies! These are portals to the ones blessed by our great Queen Mirana. Guardians awakened under her crown and protected by her charity."
You look around the long hall whose every inch was covered by a painting.
"So I ask again? Who do you wish to visit today?"
The Library
The shelves of the library reach into the heights, their image only broken by low hanging clouds that made up the ceiling. You browse the shelves, selecting books whose spines read words that are familiar to you.
Order and Chaos, Labyrinth 7, Treatropolis, Antheum, W?ND?RL?ND
The books detail the accounts of the Queen's followers through the events. It seems the Queen herself stayed in her castle alone, unaware of the world around her until W?ND?RL?ND....
