A recurring nightmare, of loneliness and fear as one is pursued through twisting, perpetually dark halls, a home transformed into a deadly maze. Desperately seeking safety outside those walls - because to be caught only inspires thoughts of death. You beg for help, but there is no one who cares to hear. There is no certainty of safety even if one were to escape...unless you make sure of it with your own two hands. The nightmare is rooted in a feeling of loneliness and desolation, the anguish of being abandoned in one's most vulnerable moment, in a place where they should have been safe.

About
Once a formless figment, Somnia gained power and form after his nightmare of origin afflicted his original dreamer multiple times over the course of several years. Quiet and aloof, he has spent much of his existence secluded away in his kingdom, never venturing outside of it. He sees crafting nightmares as something of a duty for Stygian, and upholds his own with a strange seriousness. As a result of his dedicated seclusion, he finds talking a bit difficult (both the act and the pressure of holding a conversation), and societal norms are mostly unknown to him. But after a number of decades being completely in control of his nightmares, something strange happened during one one night. It left the normally steadfast Stygian a little shaken; however, in turn, it also encouraged him to start venturing outside of his own kingdom...
Somnia has been around for some time now, old enough to have been part of the Hundred Years War - however, as a result of his isolation, these events were actually entirely unknown to him. It wasn't until he got caught up with Rui, his then still only Treat companion, and left his kingdom that he learned of it and its unfortunate results. Despite his loyalty to the Nightmare Tree, Somnia holds no dislike for Treatling kind nor the Dream realm - and hopes that one day the two realms and their denizens may come to at least tolerate one another, if only to prevent any further conflicts.

Kingdom: The Endless Field
Somnia's kingdom consists of a sprawling, endless red field, where it is perpetually night. The sky is dark and empty, save for eerie red clouds and a few stars that only ever seem to be fixated in the sky directly above oneself. In the center of the field is a two-story house whose lights are never on, where all his nightmares take place. The field is a part of the nightmare, too, but dreamers rarely ever last long enough to reach it before they wake up. If you were to reach the field, you will quickly discover there is no escape - no matter which way you go or how far, you will always find yourself back at the house. Somnia is the only one able to navigate, or grant the ability to do so, through the kingdom with ease. A small plot of land for gardening and a grove of trees are the only other noteworthy landmarks. There is little else in his kingdom - its emptiness serving to magnify the oppressive feeling of loneliness that permeates the nightmare.
The house's inner layout is a complex maze of twisting, repeating hallways and stairs. There aren't many doors, and those that appear usually cannot be opened. Though the lights are never on, there is a strange, faint blue glow that emanates from the inner corners of the building, in contrast to the red of the outside, that allows dreamers to see their surroundings somewhat and navigate. It is nearly impossible to reach the bottom floor on one's own, but getting there does allow access to the field. The appearance of the house and its interior is based off that of the dreamer who first had the nightmare from which Somnia was created, though obviously quite twisted beyond its original scope.
Though he's able to summon up shadowy figures to act as the pursuer in the nightmare, Somnia often takes on the role himself - not because he finds it enjoyable or thrilling, but simply because he feels he must take the responsibility head on (another quirk as a result of his belief of crafting nightmares). For this purpose he normally takes his Carnivorous form, though to all dreamers he looks like a shadowed, humanoid figure. This figure will chase without relent, and even if one is able to escape into the field, the chase does not end there.
It does not end until you are caught.

Child of Loneliness
In response to his dedication to his nightmares, the Nightmare Tree offered to him a branch, and Somnia ascended to become the Child of Loneliness. With his newfound abilites as a Divine, he has begun to slowly but surely shelter the kingdoms of his closest companions within his own. He finds the fact that he is doing this is fairly amusing, considering it is rather in contrast to the concept of his branch. But given that their nightmares so far all have some variation of loneliness within their themes, he finds it appropriate, too.
✧ Lonely Thoughts: With his newfound abilities as a Legendary, Somnia is able to communicate telepathically with those within his kingdom to allow for easier communication. That being said, he still tries to practice speaking aloud as often as he can. When communicating this way, his 'voice' takes on a strange quality, and those who hear it may have the vague sense and doubt that they aren't actually speaking to anyone else at all, just themselves. Only Somnia's prescence and reactions, waiting for a response, banish that doubt.
✧ Flower and Root: For those who have gained Somnia's approval, or have their kingdom housed within his, he gifts with a red flower similar to the ones growing from his Parasitic form. This flower allows the holder to notice strange vine-like roots that span the field below the grass in odd directions - were those always there? Never you mind - so long as you have a destination within the kingdom in mind and pick a single root, any root, to follow you will reach that place in no time.
